Promises For Your Faith-Rest Drill
Bible doctrine is taught by a pastor/teacher either live or be some medium (tape, internet, books, ect.).
The Holy Spirit takes the information and communicates it to the human spirit.
The believer’s positive volition and concentration gives the Holy Spirit permission to teach the information to the human spirit.
The information is now academic understanding (Pneumatika).
Once the information is understood, the Holy Spirit transfers it to the left lobe and it becomes (Gnosis-knowledge). Faith of belief causes the Holy Spirit to transfer the information to the right lobe of the Kardea where it becomes (Epignosis-superknowledge). The application of the information is then the issue, and this is where the faith rest drill comes in.
When a believer is confronted with an exigency, basic Christian modus operandi is to first utilize 1 John 1:9 and confess your sins to God alone. That way, you regain the filling of the Holy Spirit, which is the power source for all that follows.
Then, move onto the Faith rest drill, wherein you use the Holy Spirit to bring up doctrine that is in your soul to curb the fear and anxiety and re-orient the believer to the plan of God in their lives.
We are all born with a soul and a body. At the moment of salvation, God imputes to the believer a human spirit.
“It is the Spirit in man and the Spirit of the Almighty that gives us perception.” (Job 32:8)
Knowledge of doctrine is a priority in the Christian way of life (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Tim. 2:15; John 8:31-32; John 14:15; 1 John 5:3; Matt 22:29).
After confession of sin, and the filling of the Holy Spirit, and learning Doctrine, then we get to the faith-rest drill. Illustrations of the use of the faith rest drill can be found in Exodus 17:1-7; Num. 202:2-13; Heb 3:7; Heb. 4:2.
First you claim a promise, and then you concentrate on the doctrine contained in the promise, recognizing that God never lies, is always just and faithful, and never makes a promise that He doesn’t keep.
Finally you come to a doctrinal conclusion based on the promises you have claimed and move to solve your exigency from a position of grace orientation and the knowledge of your place in the plan of God.
New believers, however, do not have much doctrine to work with. Therefore, here is a very brief list of some of God’s major promises. This list is by no means exhaustive, for there are over 7000 promises available to the believer found in the word of God, but these will get you started:
Do not be fainthearted. Do not be afraid, or panic, or tremble before them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to save you. (Deut. 20:3b-4)
Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. (Deut. 31:6)
I have set the Lord continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. (Ps. 16:
Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for the Lord. (Ps. 27:14)
The steps of a man are established by the Lord; and He delights in his way. When he falls, he shall not be hurled headlong; because the Lord is the One who holds his hand. (Ps. 37:23-24)
When I am afraid, I will put my trust in Thee. (Ps. 56:3)
Guarding the paths of justice, and He preserves the way of His Godly ones. (Prov. 2:
The steadfast of mind Thou wilt keep in perfect peace, because he trusts in Thee. (Isa. 26:3)
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. (Isa. 41:10)
The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Thy faithfulness. (Lam. 3:22-23)
And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive. (Matt. 21:22)
No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, that you may be able to endure it. (1 Cor. 10:13)
Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us. (Eph. 3:20)
I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. (Phil.4: 13)
And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:19)
For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline. (2 Tim. 1:7)
The Grace Apparatus For Perception:
What is the process through which we inculcate the Word of God?
Biological life is created. (We must be alive for God to want to communicate with us.)
God creates soul life. (At birth, all who are alive get a soul, though all are born spiritually dead.)
At birth, biological life and soul life combine to create human life. (Human life is dichotomous- Biological life + Soul Life)
Upon salvation, God, through the filling of the Holy Spirit imputes human spirit. (Now, the new believer becomes a ‘new spiritual species’ and is trichotomous- Biological life + soul life + human spirit)
Now, with no unconfessed sin in his life, the believer is filled with the Holy Spirit and is ready to learn doctrine and engage in the pursuit of Spiritual Maturity.
The Grace Apparatus For Perception is God’s grace gift to the believer that provides the mechanics for the believer’s human spirit to absorb and apply doctrine…
Grace Apparatus For Perception:
1. A pastor teacher communicates doctrine.
2. The Holy Spirit, acting as mentor, makes the doctrine understandable to the human spirit. (John 14:26; 16:13)
3. This doctrinal information is then transferred from the human spirit to the left (perceptive) lobe of the soul (Nous) where it becomes Gnosis (Academic Knowledge).
4. Human volition (“I accept what is being taught as truth through faith”) causes the Holy Spirit to transfer the doctrine to the right lobe of the soul (Kardia) and turns the academic knowledge into spiritual knowledge (Epignosis) where it is cycled into compartments:
a. Frame of reference
b. Memory center
c. Vocabulary storage
d. Categorical storage
e. Conscience
f. Momentum
g. Wisdom
The doctrine, having become divine viewpoint, is now available for application to experience.
